Doula Fee: $897
I believe you should always interview your Doula first...she is going to be involved in a very intimate event in your life! Personality is huge! We may meet in person or do this in the comfort of your own home and on your own schedule over Skype.
1-2 Prenatal Meetings:
To get to know each other, discuss your birth desires,
relaxation techniques, birthing positions, and address any questions or
concerns you may have. This is also a great time to consider fears about labor and birth or any that may come up during labor, and in general it is a time to discuss the best way to support you and your husband/partner during this labor.
24 Hour Phone Support:
Phone/text, e-mail, facebook. Two weeks prior and two weeks post due date. Have a question that you're not sure if you want or need to call your doctor/midwife for? Great, let's chat first and help you come to that decision. Moms have many questions and often worries, there's a lot to think about and many things that are unfamiliar even with subsequent pregnancies. Doulas are great for asking lots of questions and giving you comfort, even on the little things, so call!
For as much or as little of your labor as you desire and to include the following support techniques:
Arrangements for a back-up Doula:
In the event an emergency arises; that you will meet during one of the prenatal visits. If you ever are unable to reach me there is never a need to worry. You always have a second doula to call and chances are I will get back to you very shortly, but you will never be without support.
Directly following birth, by phone, and also at the postpartum visit. I am also able to provide resources including local La Leche League Meeting locations and time, IBCLC's, and other resources (booklets, websites,etc.).
To make sure baby and family are adjusting well. I am also able to provide postpartum resources including local therapists/counselors and support groups.
“Remember this, for it is as true as true gets: Your body is not a lemon. You are not a machine. The Creator is not a careless mechanic. Human female bodies have the same potential to give birth well as aardvarks, lions, rhinoceri, elephants, moose, and water buffalo. Even if it has not been your habit throughout your life so far, I recommend that you learn to think positively about your body.”
